Credit for 2008 accomplishments belongs to more than 19,000 beneficiaries all over the country. At the same time, we delivered productivity and profitability improvements by prudent investments in the field of micro-credit among the ultra-poor women and marginalized families in different parts of the country. FHD covered almost all the beneficiaries by its regular program, namely capacity building of the groups of the ultra-poor women. Prior to inclusion by the regular program, these women had been working under joint collaboration with the World Food Program (WFP) and the FHD. They were previously provided with food aid and cash for work. On the other hand, FHD mobilized the ultra poor women and the marginalized families in five upazilas under the district Netrokona and Sherpur, being identified as one of the most poverty stricken areas in the country. The work of mobilization included inter-alia; organizing and conducting training sessions on the importance of savings deposit, imparting knowledge on meeting up the nutritional deficiency among the children and women, institution building, leadership development, initiating income generation activities at large and making them habituated in opposing all types of harmful behavior at the family and the society as well. |
